Tree cookies

After the big move this year some things stayed in Canada, including our christmas decorations. Sean brought back the first christmas ones for the kids, but I wanted the kids to make some decorations for the tree. I thought salt dough would be a good idea, they both love play doh!

James got right into it, making the shapes and creating pirate ships out of the dough, when Alyxis woke up she joined in, she really enjoyed squeezing it between her fingers! The kids got very messy painting them, they look great!

After I took this I sprayed Calico shine onto the banners...

Over Christmas we took some family photos, I'll share with you first my favorite one;

After this we took some of the three kids, it was hilarious! We got so many photos of them not looking, pulling faces and playing with each other! We did get a few good ones, but I do really like the outtake photos;

Waiting for Santa

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

James loves that we have a chimney that Santa can come down, he was so excited for Santa to be coming, he put his stocking by the fire, and helped Alyxis with hers. He poured out the milk and got a mince and a cookie for Santa and put them on the mantle, he even got a carrot for the reindeer, although he thought it was mean that they would not get one each. James and Alyxis put on their christmas PJs and drank their milk, Alyxis really had no idea what was going on but she enjoyed James helping her do the little preparations. 

They went to bed eagerly awaiting Santa!

Ice Skating

My printer ran out of ink, well, it wont print because it thinks its ran out of ink...

I printed my photos out at Jessops using a program called Photosheet to make them smaller than 4x6 (2x2, 3x2) and they worked great!

James and Sean went ice skating a few weeks ago with some of James' school friends, he had a gret time and I am trying to find the closest ice rink to us so he can have lessons in case we ever move back to Canada.

It would have been the 3rd time hes been skating, twice before in Toronto!

The Nativity

James had his one year nativity play last week called Shine Star Shine, it was exceptionally cute! I went to both days (first time I forgot my card for my camera!?!) and I am so glad I did, the second play was so much better, the children had such confidence that they had done it already, its so special!

James was a little sheep, he made a great sheep!

I just adore misting now, I may get a little carried away over the christmas pages, I have calico shine coming with my Studio Calico kit in the next few days!

Alyxis was SO excited when she saw James come out of the printer, she wanted to add to the page;

I used the wooden letters from field guide (or handmade? I can never remember) and used the plum thumb mist to colour them. I used the letter stamp I got last week, I also really love this!

 

Blessed

Quite simply, I have 3 amazing healthy kids.

I played with my mists again, and sprayed over a little heart for a mask. I am starting to use more on my pages, not being afraid of running out of things now I have Studio Calico!

Winter walking

We don't have a car, so we walk everywhere. Sometimes we use the local bus, but we prefer walking. Surprisingly we hardly go out to walk; just to walk. A few weeks ago we went for a walk through our local park, it was so beautiful! James took a lot of pictures with my camera (over 70!) so I decided to  use some of these on a page!

I adore this paper! Its so rich, I used Mister Huey's Estate green colour (or color) mist, this is my first time using this, I think its too weak but I am experimenting more tonight with it.

I got some more rabrips from Studio Calico in the black friday sale, I Love them!

Christmas tree

Today the christmas tree arrived! We wanted to wait until Sunday to put the tree up but plans changed so today was the day!

This is the first year we have had a fake tree, we decided with Alyxis and Thomas so little this year it would be better. I was so scared it would look terrible (I have seen some Really bad ones!).

I love the red berry lights, just so cute! I think the tree looks very generic this year, all our decorations are still in Canada, except the kids first christmas ones...

The train one is 2006 for James, and the star is 2009 for Alyxis, I will have to find one for Thomas asap!

What other decorations is everyone doing? I need ideas!!!

Christmas cards

I've never made christmas cards before. I always buy the ones that look handmade (and most of the time are handmade) just not by me, which was going to be the same this year, until Tuesday that was.

We decided to go to the coffee morning at James' school, though December they are making christmas cards! I really enjoyed seeing all the cards they where making, and getting ideas for my own (someday!) Sean was chatting to a lovely lady who was also into scrapbooking when he saw a card with a wonderful little christmas village on it, he suddenly had the mad idea to make our own christmas cards!

We're keeping it simple and making them all the same...

I am so impressed with Sean, he is not normally crafty and yet he seems to be doing most of the work (while I am watching craft shows and blogging!)

We are planning on sending these to EVERYONE we know, maybe even random poeple in the street, we are so proud of them!

Alyxis' Second Birthday

My little girl turned Two (!!) on Friday, it feels like the time has gone so fast, I really cant believe how big she is, and also how small she is still for her age!

I am in love with the little star burst things...I have no idea what they are called!

Today I was looking through her Birth - 24 months book and I am so glad I made it, its almost finished (only 4 pages to go) I'm not sure if I should carry on doing month by month or event pages like I do with James.
